Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the permitted and prohibited uses of QanoonAI. By using our platform, you agree to comply with this policy. Violation may result in account suspension or termination.
1. Permitted Uses
QanoonAI is designed for the following legitimate purposes:
1.1 Legal Research
- Searching and analyzing Pakistani court judgments and case law
- Researching statutes, ordinances, and legal precedents
- Generating case briefs and legal summaries
- Comparing judicial interpretations across courts
1.2 Document Drafting
- Drafting legal petitions, briefs, and pleadings with AI assistance
- Generating legal notices and correspondence templates
- Creating case analysis reports and legal memoranda
- Preparing research summaries for court submissions
1.3 Case Management
- Organizing case files and client information (Lawyer Portal)
- Managing judicial workload and case assignments (Judicial Portal)
- Tracking deadlines, hearings, and filing dates
- Generating invoices and billing records (Lawyer Portal)
1.4 Legal Calculations
- Using deterministic legal calculators (court fees, limitation periods, inheritance, etc.)
- Computing tax obligations, stamp duty, and compensation amounts
- Calculating Islamic inheritance shares (Faraid)
1.5 General Legal Information
- Citizens seeking general legal information and guidance through QAI
- Understanding legal rights and procedures in Pakistan
- Finding relevant laws applicable to everyday situations
2. Prohibited Uses
The following uses of QanoonAI are strictly prohibited:
2.1 Misrepresentation
- Presenting AI-generated legal outputs as independent human analysis without disclosure
- Removing or obscuring AI-generated disclaimers from documents produced by QanoonAI
- Claiming to be a licensed legal professional when using the platform without proper credentials
- Registering with a false role (e.g., selecting "Judge" without holding judicial office)
2.2 Unauthorized Access and Scraping
- Automated scraping, crawling, or bulk downloading of case law data or platform content
- Attempting to access portals or tools not authorized for your user role
- Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract QanoonAI's source code, models, or algorithms
- Circumventing rate limits, authentication controls, or usage restrictions
- Sharing account credentials or allowing unauthorized access to your account
2.3 Illegal and Harmful Activities
- Using QanoonAI to plan, facilitate, or execute any activity that violates Pakistani law
- Generating fraudulent legal documents or fabricated case citations
- Harassment, threats, or intimidation through the platform
- Submitting content that promotes violence, discrimination, or hate speech
- Using the platform in connection with money laundering, terrorism financing, or other financial crimes
2.4 Platform Abuse
- Deliberately submitting malformed queries to stress-test or disrupt services
- Attempting denial-of-service attacks or exploiting vulnerabilities
- Using QanoonAI as a general-purpose AI chatbot for non-legal purposes
- Reselling, redistributing, or commercially sublicensing QanoonAI outputs at scale without authorization
3. Role-Specific Rules
3.1 Judges
- Judicial tools must be used exclusively for neutral legal research and case management. They must not be used for advocacy or ex-parte communications with any party.
- Judges must not share judicial portal access with court staff or clerks unless those individuals have their own authorized accounts.
- AI-generated case briefs and analysis are research aids only. Judicial officers retain full responsibility for all decisions and orders.
3.2 Lawyers
- Lawyers must verify all AI-generated citations and legal analysis before filing with any court or tribunal.
- Client data entered into QanoonAI remains subject to attorney-client privilege obligations. Lawyers are responsible for obtaining appropriate client consent.
- Lawyers must not use QanoonAI outputs in a manner that violates their bar council's code of professional conduct.
3.3 Citizens
- QAI (citizens portal) provides general legal information. Citizens must not treat AI responses as personalized legal advice.
- Citizens should consult a qualified lawyer for matters requiring professional representation.
4. Content Policies
- Do not submit content containing personally identifiable information of third parties without their consent.
- Do not submit classified, state-secret, or national security material to the platform.
- Content that is obscene, defamatory, or in violation of PECA 2016 is prohibited.
- We reserve the right to remove or refuse to process content that violates this policy.
5. Usage Limits by Tier
Each subscription tier includes daily usage limits to ensure fair access and platform stability. Limits are per service and reset at midnight PKT:
5.1 Free Tier
- Judicial tools: 10 queries per day
- Lawyer tools: 15 queries per day
- QAI (Citizens): 25 queries per day
5.2 Professional (PKR 2,999/month)
- Judicial tools: 50 queries per day
- Lawyer tools: 75 queries per day
- QAI: 100 queries per day
5.3 Professional+ (PKR 4,999/month)
- Judicial tools: 200 queries per day
- Lawyer tools: 300 queries per day
- QAI: 500 queries per day
5.4 Institutional (Custom Pricing)
- Unlimited queries across all services
- Custom rate limits based on agreement
Exceeding daily limits results in temporary throttling (HTTP 429) until the next reset. Repeated attempts to circumvent limits may result in account suspension.
6. API Rate Limits
In addition to daily usage limits, the following per-minute API rate limits are enforced at the gateway level:
- Authentication endpoints: 60 requests/minute
- Judicial API: 100 requests/minute
- Lawyer API: 200 requests/minute
- Tools/Public API: 500 requests/minute
- Admin API: 30 requests/minute
7. Enforcement
Violations of this Acceptable Use Policy may result in the following actions, at our discretion:
- Warning— First-time minor violations will receive a written warning via email.
- Temporary suspension— Repeated or moderate violations may result in account suspension for up to 30 days.
- Permanent termination— Severe violations, including illegal activity or deliberate platform abuse, will result in permanent account termination.
- Legal action— We reserve the right to pursue legal remedies for violations that cause material harm.
We will notify you of any enforcement action and provide an opportunity to respond, except where immediate action is required to protect the platform or other users.
8. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this policy, please report it to support@qanoonai.pk. All reports are investigated confidentially.
